Evaluating the Digital Literacy of E-Government Services Usage in Urban Malaysian Communities

This journal article presents a comprehensive assessment of digital literacy levels in metropolitan Malaysian populations as they engage with e-government services. In an increasingly digitalized world, e-government services play a critical role in providing key public services to residents, making it critical to measure end-user digital literacy. This study adopts a quantitative survey to examine the digital literacy of urban Malaysians and its influence on their use of e-government services. The findings of the study demonstrate diverse levels of digital literacy within Malaysian urban groups, which are impacted by characteristics such as age, education, and socioeconomic position. The study reveals the unique digital skills and knowledge gaps that impede successful participation in e-government services, giving insight into the difficulties that users encounter. Furthermore, the study discusses the significance of these findings for government policies and programs targeted at boosting digital literacy and e-government service accessibility. The study's findings are significant for policymakers and e-government service providers seeking to bridge the digital gap and provide fair access to public services. This research leads to the development of more user-friendly and inclusive e-government services, eventually enhancing public engagement, trust, and involvement in Malaysia's digital governance environment by solving the identified digital literacy difficulties.

Kajian Tinjauan Skop: Pengetahuan, Sikap dan Praktis Penyusuan Ibu dalam Kalangan Wanita Bekerja.

Latar Belakang: Banyak kajian menunjukkan manfaat penyusuan susu ibu untuk bayi dan ibu, tetapi praktis penyusuan secara eksklusif masih rendah terutama dalam kalangan ibu bekerja. Pelbagai cabaran penyusuan dikenalpasti apabila ibu kembali semula untuk bekerja. Objektif: Kajian tinjauan literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti konsep dan tema mengenai pengetahuan, sikap dan amalan penyusuan susu ibu dalam kalangan ibu bekerja. Kaedah: Kajian tinjauan skop dilakukan untuk mengenal pasti, mengambil dan merumuskan literatur yang berkaitan dengan topik dari Scopus, CINAHL, MEDLINE, ProQuest, Google Scholar, Pubmed, dan web of science. Kriteria pemilihan literatur terhad kepada penerbitan dalam bahasa Inggeris yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2015 hingga Januari 2022. Pendekatan carian secara berperingkat menggunakan kerangka kajian tinjauan skop oleh Arksey dan O'Malley yang terdiri dari lima peringkat iaitu: (1) mengenal pasti soalan atau objektif kajian (2) mengenal pasti kajian yang relevan, (3) pemilihan kajian, (4) klasifikasi data, dan (5) menyusun, mengumpul dan meringkaskan hasil dapatan Dapatan: Tujuh belas kajian memenuhi kriteria pemilihan. Praktis penyusuan disifatkan sebagai sesuatu yang mencabar kerana situasi persekitaran kerja. Ibu perlu menyesuaikan diri dengan pelbagai peranan, keseimbangan antara peranan sebagai ibu dan kerjaya dengan tugas yang sukar. Terdapat beberapa halangan dikenalpasti setelah kembali bekerja. Kesimpulan: Banyak kajian menunjukkan dapatan yang memuaskan mengenai pengetahuan dan sikap. Walau bagaimanapun, terdapat cabaran dalam praktis penyusuan susu ibu setelah kembali bekerja perlu diberi perhatian. Kajian kualitatif dicadangkan untuk mengenalpasti cabaran penyusuan susu ibu dalam kalangan ibu yang bekerja.

The Role of Local Government in Empowering Fishing Communities In Biak Numfor Regency

The role of government is very important in empowering the community. This study aims to determine the role of local government in empowering fishing communities in Biak Numfor district. Data collection techniques are used through; observation, interviews, and literature studies. The informant in the research was from the local government of Biak Numfor regency, in this case the Fisheries and Marine Service of Biak Numfor district. The informant selection technique is carried out through purposive sampling. The data analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis. The results showed that the role of local governments in empowering fishing communities in Biak Numfor district was carried out through community empowerment programs such as the procurement of fishing gear for fishermen, work accident insurance assistance, and providing skills for fishermen to process processed fish. The inhibiting factors in increasing the income of fishermen in Biak Numfor district are the lack of human resources and weather factors that often change. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive and contextual approach to the government's role in empowering fishing communities in the unique environment of Biak Numfor district, as well as unraveling the dynamics that may underlie the success or obstacles of government efforts in empowering fishing communities

Digital and Non-Digital Feedback Modes in Private Higher Institution: Students’ Perception.

The use of effective and high-quality instructional feedback has been identified as a key element of quality teaching and learning. The is a major change in the provision of instructional feedback in higher education due to the rapid growth of internet strategy resulting in different forms of feedback modes provided by lecturers. Instructional feedback is generally provided in digital modes and non-digital modes through two various mediums known as text-based feedback comments (electronic annotations, marking sheet or rubric, handwritten) and verbal feedback comments (face-to-face and digitally recorded). These feedback modes are used to monitor student learning in response to instruction and provide prompts to students to confirm, refine, or clarify their understandings. Even though there is recognition of the significant role and value that feedback plays in student learning, very little is understood about how students perceive the feedback they receive on their work. So, this study aims to investigate students’ perceptions of the uses of digital and non-digital feedback modes in Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Alor Setar (KPTMAS). This study employed a quantitative approach through an online survey and the survey items adapted from Ryan, Henderson & and Phillips (2019). The population of the study consisted of Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Alor Setar students. Hopefully, these findings enhance our understanding of the students' preferences in the use of feedback modes in higher education. Henderson & Phillips (2019). Consumer Perception Towards Halal Cosmetics Product in Malaysia

As the Muslim population grows and people become more interested in beauty, the halal market is likely to become a bigger problem because Muslims are worried about using cosmetics with the word "halal" on them. This resulted that many Muslim consumers feel uncertain and suspicious about whether the products they are purchasing comply with sharia’ law. For that reason, the purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of consumers in Malaysia on Halal cosmetics. This study looked at two (2) different cases from different publications to investigate how customers in Malaysia think about halal cosmetics. The two publications that are specified in the methodology were utilized to explore the outcomes. Findings show that most of consumers in Malaysia are aware with the Halal cosmetics as it gains more popular and most of them have knowledge on the specifications. Furthermore, it is also found that consumers were mainly influenced by family and group in making purchases on Halal cosmetic products. Moreover, religious beliefs are, and will likely continue to be, the fundamental driving force behind the selection of halal cosmetics.

Effect of Gallery Walk Classroom (GWFC), on English Language Acquisition among Diploma Learners.

This study aimed to investigate the Effect of Gallery Walk Flipped Classroom (GWFC) on English Language Acquisition among Diploma Learners. The study utilised a quasi-experimental design with pre and post-tests to compare the performance of the experimental group and control groups. The experimental group received GWFC treatment for four weeks, while the control groups received standard flipped and traditional teaching. Data were collected through pre and post-tests. The results were analysed and compared using nonparametric tests as the sample size is less than 30 in each classroom. Pre and post-test scores were collected as quantitative data to evaluate the learning achievement. The findings showed that the GWFC group outperformed the control group regarding English language acquisition, in which the GWFC learners scored significantly higher compared to standard flipped classrooms (FC) and traditional classrooms (TC). There is a significant difference in achievement means between before and after the treatment for the GWFC. The study concludes that the GWFC approach can effectively promote English language acquisition among diploma learners. The study recommends that educators consider implementing GWFC in their classrooms to enhance English language acquisition among their learners. Thus, it can be said that GWFC instruction had a large effect on language acquisition among diploma learners. Implications, limitations, and directions for future research follow the findings.

This paper aims to investigate the factors that affect the work-life balance of auditors and how it affects their overall well-being. The auditing profession is known for its demanding nature, with long working hours, tight deadlines, and high levels of responsibility that can significantly impact auditors' ability to achieve a balanced work and personal life.
To gain in-depth insights into their experiences and perceptions regarding work-life balance, this research utilizes a qualitative research method that involves conducting semi-structured interviews with auditors. A purposive sampling approach will be used to select auditors from different levels of experience, and work environments, providing a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities auditors face in managing their work and personal life. The study will explore the strategies that auditors use to balance their professional responsibilities with personal commitments, examine the role of organizational policies and support systems in facilitating work-life balance, and investigate the impact of work-life balance on their physical and mental well-being. By providing a better understanding of the complex relationship between work-life balance and auditor well-being, this study contributes to the limited existing knowledge on this topic within the auditing profession. The findings will provide valuable insights for audit firms and policymakers in developing evidence-based policies and practices that promote work-life balance and support auditors' well-being. Furthermore, this research aims to initiate a discussion on the significance of work-life balance within the auditing field and encourage future research endeavours to address this critical aspect of auditors' professional lives.

Acceptance Toward A.I. Use among KPTM Bangi Students in An ESL Classroom

This research investigated the factors that influence students' acceptance towards the use of AI technology in an ESL classroom, using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model as its framework. The study was conducted with a sample of students from Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM), Bangi campus, who have been exposed to AI technology daily. The research specifically examined the impact of five constructs on students' acceptance of AI technology, as informed by the UTAUT model, which includes use experience, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. The data was collected through a Google Form questionnaire and analysed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The findings of this study are expected to provide insights into how educators can effectively implement AI technology in ESL classrooms and improve students' ESL learning outcomes.

Perkhidmatan komunikasi tanpa wayar telah berkembang pesat dengan matlamat untuk
memenuhi permintaan yang semakin meningkat. Isu keselamatan rangkaian tanpa wayar telah
menjadi topik perbualan hangat dengan adanya ancaman dan serangan yang muncul saban
hari. Keperluan terhadap tenaga mahir dalam bidang keselamatan rangkaian tanpa wayar
perlu di tingkatkan bagi menampung permintaan organisasi. Institusi pendidikan tinggi perlu
melahirkan graduan yang kompeten dalam bidang terbabit. Politeknik Kuala Terengganu telah
bekerjasama dengan pihak industri bagi melatih pelajar mengurus isu keselamatan rangkaian
tanpa wayar. Kajian yang dijalankan berbentuk deskriptif untuk mengenalpasti impak dan
cabaran yang dihadapi oleh pelajar setelah mengharungi pembelajaran keselamatan tanpa
wayar melalui kolaborasi bersama industri. Sampel bagi kajian ini terdiri dari 43 orang pelajar
semester dua, program Diploma Teknologi Maklumat (Teknologi Digital) yang telah melalui
program pembelajaran keselamatan rangkaian tanpa wayar bersama pihak industri. Instrumen
bagi kajian ini terdiri dari borang soal selidik yang digunakan untuk mengenalpasti impak dan
cabaran pembelajaran keselamatan rangkaian tanpa wayar melalui kolaborasi bersama
industri. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan terdapat enam impak yang dicapai apabila
melaksanakan aktiviti pembelajaran keselamatan rangkaian tanpa wayar bersama pihak
industri. Kefahaman pelajar terhadap teknik ancaman dan serangan semakin meningkat dan
mereka juga berupaya mengurangkan kelemahan keselamatan yang terdapat dalam rangkaian
tanpa wayar. Pelajar dapat memahami peranan protokol penyulitan dan kepentingannya serta
melaksanakan konfigurasi terhadap rangkaian tanpa wayar agar lebih selamat. Mereka juga
mempunyai keyakinan yang tinggi dalam menguruskan keselamatan rangkaian tanpa wayar
dan mengaplikasikan konsep dan teknik yang dipelajari. Cabaran utama yang dihadapi oleh
pelajar adalah mengaplikasikan kemahiran berfikir secara kritis bagi menyelesaikan masalah

The Factors Influencing the Actual Use of Mobile Learning among Students in Malaysia Public Universities

The education system has experienced major change since COVID-19, moving away from
traditional learning methods and toward non-traditional solutions. Mobile learning is one of the
most innovative methods of education that has emerged as a result of the widespread accessibility
of information networks and ongoing technological advancement. This denotes the launch of an
unconventional educational platform that makes use of mobile technologies to promote thorough
knowledge gain and interactive learning. Students may show resistance to adopting mobile learning
despite governmental efforts through its policy and benefits linked with educational technologies in
learning. This hesitance is indicated by the conflicting findings present in the existing literature.
The question of whether students possess favourable attitudes towards mobile learning remains an
ongoing challenge to study. Hence, to illustrate thorough explanations regarding challenges related
to the actual usage of mobile learning, the study intends to investigate the influence of perceived
trust, perceived usefulness, perceived usability, perceived facilities, and perceived social influence
of mobile learning. The study adopts these five (5) independent variables to test the dependent
variable namely the actual use of mobile learning and treatment of the behaviour intention derived
from the aforementioned five (5) independent variables. To fully illustrate, the study proposes a
comprehensive framework for implementing mobile learning in public universities. The findings of
the research offer practical advice on how to evaluate and improve the quality of mobile learning
platforms and comprehend diverse factors for the effective use of mobile learning platforms.

The Factor of Motivation in Learning English Language among Pakistani Learners

English language is the second and official language of Pakistan. It is taught and learnt in instructed environment for ensuing particular targets among learners. Therefore, motivation plays noteworthy part in learning target language i.e., English Language. It has been observed that number of issues rise in developing motivation among students during Second language learning i.e., out dated syllabus, lack of teachers’ training, particular educational policies and lack of programs for students’ counselling. The factors are exercised almost in all educational institutes but instead of spreading same level of knowledge students do not attain the same level of achievements in learning a foreign language. It exercises the challenging environment not for learners also teachers to teach second language in multicultural society. In order to critically examine the foreign language learning in Pakistani context, this study needs to explore the role, nature of motivation, its various factors, the influence of teachers on learner’s motivation, motivating environment and anxiety that students face in attaining the second language class. The study is conducted in the context of Sindh region, Pakistan. A set of questionnaires is administered using google form to obtain responses from 16 English teachers regarding students’ motivation parameters to be assessed by them. Questions are designed to know teachers’ observation as well. The data was analysed through quantitative method.

The study proposed that L2 teachers play one of the most influential roles to help students engage and persist in the long process of second language acquisition. Therefore, researchers have designed the questionnaire/ survey form was asked to fill 16 English teachers i.e., affiliated with college, university and schools. The result describes motivation a positive energy among learners; whenever is developed among learners; they not only have desire to learn but creates environment to learn for all who are associated with them. Some do not show the same results because of the most dissatisfying factor is assessment system. In the end, second language learning would have merely a short-term goal of achieving high marks among learners. The results submits that teachers need to put a great deal of thought into learning programs which sustain and boost students’ interest and help them to achieve their goal.

Implementing Penetration Testing in Simulation Environment.

Penetration testing or pen testing is crucial to protect systems from cyber risk attacks due to the vulnerabilities in information security. This article presents the implementation of basic penetration testing which focuses on the scanning phase by using two virtual machines which are Kali Linux and Metasploitable 2 installed virtually in a local machine through VirtualBox as one of the virtualization software to simulate the environment. Nmap which is one of Kali Linux tools was used to perform the scanning purpose on Metasploitable 2 as a vulnerable system or target machine. The experiment was conducted in a secured environment thus requiring a secured setting in configuring the VirtualBox. The experimental results show a list of open ports from the Metasploitable 2 machine and thus suggest basic countermeasures to secure the systems. Using Kali Linux as one of the penetration testing tools is beneficial for finding vulnerabilities and alerting pen testers to fix them before attackers can take advantage of them.

Coaching to Encourage Halal Practices

Despite its growth, driven primarily by the expanding Muslim population, the industry faces challenges related to halal certification and compliance, particularly among micro-enterprises. This paper explores the role of coaching in facilitating halal practices among these smaller businesses. Drawing on various studies, there are argument that coaching is an effective tool for behavioral change, performance improvement, and fostering a growth mindset. It is particularly beneficial for micro-enterprises, which often perceive halal certification as burdensome. Through coaching, these businesses can gain the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of halal certification, thereby improving their competitiveness and marketability. Quantitative research supports the positive impact of coaching on the intention to adopt halal practices. This study delves into the realm of customer experience with augmented reality, specifically focusing on mobile apps tailored for cosmetic products. The research methodology employed in-depth interviews to gather qualitative data, allowing for a nuanced exploration of consumer perceptions and preferences. The analysis reveals three pivotal dimensions crucial for the success and acceptance of AR mobile apps among online shoppers: hedonic experience, utilitarian experience, and immersive experience. The hedonic experience emphasizes the emotional and sensory gratification derived from using AR apps, providing customers with an enjoyable and engaging shopping journey. Simultaneously, the utilitarian experience underscores the practical benefits and functionality that AR technology brings, enabling users to make informed decisions about cosmetic products. By understanding factors influencing their aspirations, the research aims to cultivate capable future Shariah auditors for Islamic Financial Institutions. The study has four main goals: measuring awareness of Shariah audit functions, evaluating accounting graduates' knowledge in Shariah auditing, assessing students' interest in Shariah audits, and examining factors influencing accounting students' desire to become Shariah auditors. The study's findings are significant for educational institutions and professional bodies. The insights into Shariah audit awareness, competence, and career intentions could reshape education, leading to improved curricula for Islamic finance. Universities and professional bodies can use these insights to create programs that nurture skilled Shariah auditors, blending tradition and innovation in Islamic finance. An Analysis of Directive Speech Act Utilized in Contemporary Islamic Sermons: A Case Study of Dr. Haifaa Younis’s Sermons

Contemporary Islamic sermons are religious speeches or lectures delivered by Muslim scholars, imams, or knowledgeable individuals in the present time. These sermons cover various aspects of the Islamic faith, teachings, ethics, and practical guidance while also addressing contemporary issues and challenges faced by Muslims and society. The objective of contemporary Islamic sermons is to bridge the gap between traditional Islamic teachings and the modern context by providing relevant insights and perspectives that resonate with the current generation. These sermons often touch on topics such as spirituality, moral values, social justice, family life, personal development, community engagement, and addressing contemporary societal challenges. The present study aims to analyze the selected Islamic sermons delivered by Dr. Haifaa Younis which examines the use of directive speech acts within the speeches. Directive speech acts, according to Searle, occur when the speaker expects the listener to take a specific action. These can take various forms, such as advice, commands, orders, questions, or requests. The research data for this study were obtained from Dr. Haifaa Younis's YouTube channel, specifically from the sermons, which were transcribed verbatim for analysis purposes. The study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing descriptive interpretative techniques to analyze the data. The researcher examined the verbatim transcripts of the selected sermons, identified the instances of directive speech acts, and explained the phenomena using pragmatic theories.
