https://journal.uptm.edu.my/index.php/evolusi/article/view/311

The global issue of the Covid-19 pandemic has led to a significant shift in the delivery of education services, particularly in traditional higher education institutions, which are now adopting digital alternatives. E-learning is widely regarded as the most suitable and efficient approach for delivering knowledge in accordance with the prevailing academic demands. This study examines the primary factors that impact the intentions of students in higher education institutions in Malaysia to utilize e-learning, in light of the emergence of the novel Covid-19 epidemic. The study was conducted inside the Ampang Indah community, utilizing a sample size of 122 participants. The study utilized a quantitative research approach, employing a standardized questionnaire and conducting statistical analysis. The research findings indicate that there is a significant relationship between perceived usefulness and intention to employ e-learning. Nevertheless, it was shown that subjective norms did not provide a statistically significant impact on the intention to utilize e-learning within the specific setting of Malaysia. The Covid-19 pandemic has necessitated the use of e-learning methods, regardless of individual perceptions. The perceived usefulness of a certain entity or concept has a notable and positive impact on an individual’s attitude towards it. The aforementioned findings provided educational institutions with recommendations for the effective integration of e-learning systems into their educational practices, particularly in situations where traditional in-person instruction is not feasible. These suggestions aim to contribute to the establishment of resilient and enduring education system
Suriza Noorfahmi HashimWan Nurul Hanis Wan ZainalNorhaninah A. Gani

The utilization of technology in students information management is no longer a vision, but a necessity to every higher education provider. One of the vital students information management is the marks management. Current practice in Kolej Poly-Tech MARA is dual manual entry of marks to two different platform; SPMP and MDR. This reduces productivity of the teaching staff as it time consuming and prone to error. Due to this problem, MyKITS is created to integrate between these two platforms so that the error can be minimized. This study is the feasibility of using MyKITS among the teaching staff in KPTM Ipoh in academic session November 2023. The findings from the thematic analysis based on the experiences of usage found that the use of MyKITS in marks management is efficient, time saving and reduce the error. This study is important to proceed the innovation for pilot study of field study and bigger sample to test the effectiveness of MyKITS
Norafni @ Farlina RahimMuhammad Syafiq Imran Abdul RahimMohamad Zulhusni Mamat

The influence of TikTok on consumer shopping behaviors is increasingly evident, with 58.2% of TikTok users expressing that they rely on the platform for shopping inspiration. This study focuses on establishing the validity and reliability of the Students' Gratification to Purchase Sports Products on TikTok Shop instrument, intending to apply it in subsequent studies within similar settings. The questionnaire was adjusted to align with the target population and underwent reliability analysis, achieving a Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient exceeding 0.7, indicating a reliable scale. In the Exploratory Factor Analysis, none of the items were excluded, and they were reorganized into three factors: attention, positive attitude, emotion and utilitarian gratification. Subsequently, Confirmatory Factor Analysis was conducted on the 20 items. The final model confirmed the presence of three constructs: Attention, Positive Attitude Emotion, and Utilitarian Gratification. Based on the model's evaluation, the sample data fits the measurement model well (RMSEA = 0.073, GFI = 0.880, AGFI = 0.837, TLI = 0.947, and NFI = 0.923). In conclusion, this questionnaire demonstrates strong validity and reliability, making it suitable for further studies in similar settings.
Muhammad Faizal KutipAdam Afif Mohamad AzmiCassendra GilbertSyahida Mohd Nazri

https://journal.uptm.edu.my/index.php/evolusi/article/view/145

The purpose of this research was to investigate the perceptions of two courses of UPTM undergraduates majoring in English towards English literature, the difficulties encountered, and the types of methods that suit their needs in learning English literature. The study employed a quantitative method by collecting data from 100 respondents through 39-item questionnaires. Undergraduates perceived that learning English literature was pleasant as it could assist them in expanding their vocabulary and enhancing language skills. Even so, concerns such as the vocabulary they discovered while learning English literary texts having multiple meanings hindered them from learning English literature and inhibited their ability to comprehend literature better. However, the guidance of teachers or lecturers is a feasible approach to facilitate students learning in English literature. Overall, the findings suggest the need for increased exposure and tailored teaching methods to improve English literature learning outcomes.
Sharmaine Batrisyia Lai Muhammed Zuhair Syafiq LaiAnis Abdul Rahim

https://journal.uptm.edu.my/index.php/evolusi/article/view/325

Abstract:

Islamic Non-Profit Organizations (INOs) play a crucial role in Muslim communities, evolving from spiritual guidance providers to impactful social entities. As they seek funding from diverse sources including governmental bodies, businesses, and private donors, transparency in information disclosure becomes paramount to establish credibility. This paper introduces "TRS 4 INOs," a novel system designed to facilitate transparent reporting practices tailored to meet stakeholder expectations. The system development is part of an ongoing project aimed at achieving specific research objectives: (i) assessing the transparency of reporting practices among Malaysian INOs, and (ii) exploring web-based impression management strategies utilized by these organizations to engage stakeholders and attract donors.

The study is informed by research on impression management and web-disclosure practices, particularly relevant in light of challenges faced by Muslim faith-based organizations post-9/11, exacerbated by narratives linking them to terrorism financing. The research methodology involves two phases aligned with the stated objectives. Firstly, Malaysian INOs are identified through databases maintained by regulatory bodies such as the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS) and the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM). Secondly, web-disclosure strategies are examined through interviews with stakeholders of Muslim faith-based organizations.

The findings from this research are expected to contribute to the advancement of transparent reporting systems tailored for INOs, fostering trust and credibility among stakeholders. Moreover, insights into web-based impression management strategies will assist INOs in effectively communicating their missions and activities, thereby enhancing their ability to secure essential funding for impactful community initiatives.
Fazrul Radzi ShaharomZaid Mat YusopRamesh NairRoshayani Arshad

https://journal.uptm.edu.my/index.php/evolusi/article/view/161

The English language has long been considered an internationally accepted facet of communication. Hence, to survive and succeed in the global environment, it is imperative to have proficiency in English. Keeping in mind the global needs of English, the study was conducted to find out learners' needs, wants, and expectations from functional English courses and possible ways to address them. The approach to the language learners’ needs followed the standard dogmas. A survey was conducted with the target audience of first-year students of the English department, at the University of Sindh. The research uses a structured questionnaire to collect and analyze data from the committee. The committee provided explicit instructions to fill out the questionnaire. The output received revealed that the majority of the participants belonging to remote areas achieved education from public sectors with average English language proficiency. The worrisome problem noted is that they lack speaking and writing skills. Since English is used as Lingua Franca, they think it is important to acquire English language skills for their personal and professional growth and future endeavors. The result elicited that participants should be given more exposure to the English language with a focus on speaking and writing skills. It reveals that there is an urgent need to include English primarily in the national curriculum and should be used frequently by the participants to meet the global demand for English.

Illahi BuxSameena KhokharAamir Magsi
