About the Journal

International Journal of Socio-Economy Planning is a peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually (in April and October) by the Institute Kajian Economic Bumiputra and managed by Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia. Established in 2024, the journal aims to serve as a scholarly platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to explore the integration of socio-economic analysis with strategic development and planning. The journal highlights interdisciplinary contributions that address global and regional socio-economic challenges and promote inclusive and sustainable planning solutions.

The International Journal of Socio-Economy Planning is available in electronic formats. The online version is freely accessible and downloadable (open access).

AIMS AND SCOPE

The journal invites contributions from a broad range of disciplines and perspectives, including but not limited to:

• Economic Development Planning: Strategies and policies for fostering economic growth and stability at local, national, and global levels.

• Social Policy and Welfare: Analyses of public policy interventions on poverty, inequality, education, healthcare, and social mobility.

• Sustainable Development and Environmental Planning: Integrative planning models that balance economic performance, social inclusiveness, and environmental preservation.

• Urban and Rural Socio-Economic Dynamics: Case studies and theoretical discussions on planning practices in diverse demographic and geographic contexts.

• Governance, Institutions and Policy Innovation: Research on institutional frameworks, regulatory systems, and stakeholder engagement in socio-economic planning.

The journal prioritizes high-quality, original, and empirical research, theoretical discussions, and comprehensive review papers that contribute to the discourse of socio-economic integration and strategic planning.

MANUSCRIPTS

Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Malay and must be prepared using Times New Roman font, size 12 for main text, and size 10 for footnotes. Articles should not exceed 8,000 words excluding references, tables, and appendices. Submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two independent reviewers. Manuscripts must not be under consideration elsewhere.

Articles reflect the views of their authors and do not necessarily represent the opinions of the editorial board or the publisher.

OPEN ACCESS AND COPYRIGHT POLICY

This journal practices a fully open-access policy under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain the copyright of their articles and grant the journal the right of first publication. Authors may redistribute their published work with proper citation and acknowledgment of the original publication in this journal.

Authors are encouraged to upload preprints or final versions in institutional repositories to foster knowledge sharing and citation.

ABSTRACT

All articles must be submitted with two abstracts in two languages—either English and Malay, or English and Arabic. Each abstract should not exceed 200 words and must be accompanied by 3–5 relevant keywords.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All submissions to the International Journal of Socio-Economy Planning are subject to an initial editorial review followed by a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. This typically takes between 3 to 6 months. Reviewers’ comments will be shared with authors for revision. Final acceptance is at the discretion of the editorial board.

SPECIAL ISSUES

The journal welcomes proposals for special issues. Interested parties must send a formal request to the Chief Editor. All special issue manuscripts are subject to the same peer-review procedures as regular submissions. Guest editors may be appointed where appropriate.

JOURNAL INDEXING AND ARCHIVING

The International Journal of Socio-Economy Planning is archived in LOCKSS/CLOCKSS and indexed in relevant national and international academic databases (e.g., MyCite, Google Scholar, etc.).
