This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

1. Purpose and Scope
This policy sets out Jurnal Evolusi’s commitment to immediate, free, and unrestricted online access to all peer-reviewed content, fully aligned with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) criteria and international best practice.

2. Copyright and Licensing
Author ownership – Authors retain full copyright in their work.

Licence – All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0). This licence permits unrestricted use, distribution, reproduction, and adaptation in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Third-party material – Any non-CC-BY material included in an article must be clearly identified, and permission for reuse is the responsibility of the author.

Protection of interests – Users must not imply journal or author endorsement of derivative works, and any modifications must be labelled as such.

3. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

No submission fees and APCs charged are levied until further notices.

4. Accessibility and Embargoes
The Version of Record is made openly available on the journal platform immediately upon publication.

No embargo applies to articles or accompanying supplementary files. Pre-print posting is presently not permitted.

5. Self-Archiving and Repository Deposit
Authors are encouraged (but not obliged) to deposit the Version of Record in institutional or subject repositories, provided the DOI and citation to Jurnal Evolusi are included.

6. Peer Review Process
All manuscripts undergo single blind peer review by a minimum of two independent reviewers.

Reviewer reports and editorial decision letters are shared only with the corresponding author and co-authors; they are not published publicly.

Average time from submission to first decision and acceptance statistics are reported annually on the journal website.

7. Metadata, Indexing, and Persistent Identifiers
Machine-readable metadata is exposed via OAI-PMH in MARC, MARC 21, RFC 1807, and Dublin Core formats.

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are assigned to every article through Crossref.

The journal maintains current directory registrations (e.g., DOAJ, Crossref) and pursues inclusion in additional abstracting and indexing services.

8. Digital Preservation
Long-term preservation is ensured through the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN), providing LOCKSS-based redundancy and perpetual access. Internally Jurnal Evolusi back up all related publication internally in EPrint UPTM Library. 

9. Author and Reader Rights
Text- and data-mining, commercial reuse, and translation are permitted under CC BY 4.0 with appropriate credit.

Users must not introduce misleading modifications or remove the original licence details.

10. Publication Ethics and Malpractice
Jurnal Evolusi adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and requires:

Plagiarism control – All submissions are screened; total similarity must not exceed 30%.

Research integrity – Ethical approval identifiers must accompany studies involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data.

Data availability – Authors should provide underlying data or state justified restrictions.

Misconduct allegations are investigated in line with COPE flowcharts and may result in retraction or correction.

11. Funding, Sponsorship, and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose all funding sources and sponsorship in a dedicated “Funding” statement.

Any potential conflicts of interestfinancial or non-financialmust be declared.

The journal itself receives no advertising or sponsorship income that might influence editorial decisions.

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for policy implementation and annual review. Substantive changes will be communicated to authors, reviewers, and indexing services.

13. Policy Review Cycle
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure ongoing compliance with DOAJ guidelines and emerging best practices in open scholarship.
