Shaping Business Competitiveness Through Logistics Capability and Supply Chain Resilience
Abstract
Logistics capability and supply chain resilience have become increasingly important for organisations seeking to maintain competitiveness within uncertain and rapidly changing business environments. This article examines how logistics capability can strengthen business competitiveness through the development of supply chain resilience. It focuses on the strategic importance of logistics flexibility, supply chain visibility, information capability, collaboration, and resource adaptability in supporting effective responses to operational disruptions. The article identifies several critical issues, including limited logistics flexibility, fragmented information and weak supply chain visibility, coordination difficulties among supply chain partners, and the challenge of balancing resilience investment with business performance. The discussion indicates that logistics capability and supply chain resilience should be developed as complementary strategic capabilities because organisations must maintain operational efficiency while remaining sufficiently adaptable to changing supply chain conditions. Accordingly, the article proposes adaptive and flexible logistics planning, integrated supply chain visibility and information capability, stronger collaborative resilience among supply chain partners, and the alignment of resilience investment with competitive business priorities. Overall, the article concludes that organisations capable of combining efficient logistics operations with flexibility, visibility, collaboration, and resilience are better positioned to maintain business continuity, protect customer value, respond effectively to disruption, and strengthen long term business competitiveness.
