Khairani Athirah Roslee Business Model Innovation and Entrepreneurial Orientation Relationships in SMEs: Implications for international performance in Malaysia The Implications of this Relationship for Their International Performance in Malaysia
Abstract
This study looks at how business model innovation (BMI) and
entrepreneurial orientation (EO) impact the international success of small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. SMEs play a key role in the
economy, and this research explores how their ability to adapt and innovate
helps them succeed globally. Using both surveys and interviews, the study
found that BMI, such as customer-focused innovations, boosts
competitiveness, while EO traits like risk-taking are crucial for expanding
into new markets. Internal factors like team flexibility and external
influences, such as government support, also play a big role in performance.
The findings highlight the need for SMEs to blend innovation and
entrepreneurial drive to tackle global challenges, offering practical advice for
business leaders and policymakers.
